The Full Story

It all started in 1993 with my wife Laura and I started ABC Printing & Graphics in a spare bedroom of our mobile home in Bonanza, AR.  I resigned my position with the Longview, Texas Convention & Visitors Bureau, where I was Executive Director, in order to move back home and start up our own business.

My first sale was with the Idabel, OK Chamber of Commerce.  I won the contract to publish their first forty-page Economic Development Catalog/Directory.  Working solo, I sold every ad, and Laura and I designed every ad, researched all the technical data necessary for Idabel to attract a business prospect; wrote all the copy, drew all the maps, developed all the charts, etc., printed 10,000 copies, and made $26,000 profit in four months. With our savings, and these profits, we built a 1600 square ft. office building from which to operate and expand the company.  We hired our first employee four months after opening the office and I hit the streets hard every day.  I sold jobs of every kind and description and turned down nothing that came my way.  I spent many, many hours at the library searching through the Thomas Register to source the necessary suppliers.

All of our print jobs had to be outsourced to my good friend in Longview, Texas at ABC Printing.  After two years, we had enough customers to hire a pressman and buy the minimal necessary equipment to start a “bare-bones” print shop.  All printing and bindery was produced in a room 18’ x 24’.  There was barely room for two people to get around. The third year, we got a loan and added a two-story 2500 sq. ft. shop and upstairs office/photography studio.  Just two years later, we added on again.  Later we bought a new two-color high-speed press. Over the years, our square footage has continued to steadily increase, as well as our equipment and workforce.

In April 2014, ABC Printing & Graphics changed our name to ABC Printing & Signs to help serve you better in your printing, signage and promotional product needs.  We have also revamped our website to show all the services we have to offer to help you connect to your customers and grow your business.

ABC Printing & Signs is heading into our Thirtieth year of successful and profitable operations. We have developed a strong print shop and customer service heads above our competition. We have an experienced graphics staff, well equipped bindery, sign and display production, promotional products resources, expanded lamination capabilities, and an established staff of very experienced professionals, second to none in our market.  We are most definitely committed to company growth and expanded services to our many good customers.
